For this assignment I was given the shooting script and raw files from the short film “The Ballerina, her Shoemaker, and his Apprentice” by Eva Ye. I was given the freedom to choose from various different takes of each scene, and also add my own visual elements to the film. Because I was given the raw files for this project, I did a lot of work with color correcting, noise reduction, and editing down of clips. In doing this assignment I focused on editing for empathy as well as using different editing techniques with coloring, overlays, and blurs to add an additional through point to the story. George’s flashbacks of Sylvia were not written in the original script, but I wanted to add them to give the audience a deeper dive into George’s point of view.
